Sav Buist: “Winning this contest is validation that good things can come from hard things and that tomorrow can be better than today…”

Deadline looms for the world’s top songwriting competition – enter now for your chance to win $50,000 in cash and merchandise

Songwriters, you have until 31 May 2023 to enter the 28th Annual USA Songwriting Competition. With this year’s winner taking home a top prize of $50,000 worth of cash and merchandise/music gear from renowned brands such as Michael Kelly Guitars, Samson Microphones, Hartke Amps and PreSonus, you won’t want to miss out.

Not only that, with 96 songs from entrants making the Billboard charts, the competition is a proven springboard. Helping songwriters to achieve their career ambitions, past winners have earned publishing deals, recording contracts, had their songs used in films and TV shows and had their songs cut by major artists.

Last year’s Overall Grand Prize was won by Nashville singer-songwriter Sav Buist, whose song The Line also won the Folk category. Speaking about her victory, Buist says, “I am truly honoured that The Line won the USA Songwriting Grand Prize. Ironically, I wrote The Line at a low point, when I was having a hard time finding the words. It’s a culmination of all the unwanted voices in my head. Winning this contest is validation that good things can come from hard things and that tomorrow can be better than today…”

Songwriters can enter in 15 categories: Pop, Rock/Alt, Country, R&B, Gospel/Inspirational, Folk, Latin, Instrumental, Jazz, Hip-Hop/Rap, Children, World, Dance, Electronica, Novelty/Comedy, Lyrics Only.

The competition is open to all songwriters, bands and musicians, regardless of nationality, and songs can be written in any language. Multiple entries can be submitted, though each song costs $35 per entry.
